Thursday Taster 76: Parallel Slip

Hello and welcome to a new Thursday Taster, the day when awesome writers all over the blogosphere come together to give you tasty bits of their last fiction. You can find the list here.
We climbed anyway but I could already imagine the argument she was going to serve me later, about how I was supposed to climb and go down stairs without a handle every single day. I was already glad she didn't ask for me to be on the ground floor at the dormitory, but that was certainly because she didn't think I would stay there more than a day. At the top of the stairs were tables for insurance companies. People selling books and a large advertisement board on the left. It was difficult to progress in the crowd. I managed to figure out where the main lecture hall was and my parents followed me to it. It was a large room the sort they call an amphitheatre, The board was at the very bottom of the room and the sits were organized in stairs in semi circle so that everyone could see everything happening with the teacher not matter how tall the person in front of them was. We had twenty minutes left before the introduction started. I was the only one sitting between her parents and others were already throwing me looks. It was terrible, I really wanted to hide. The fatidical time had also passed and I was still here fully conscious. After 10 minutes between my parents saying nothing to me or to each other I couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm going to the toilet," I said.
"The lecture is going to start," my mother said.
"I really need to go, I'll be back on time."
"I'm going with you," my mother said.
Her trust in me was so great it was unbelievable.
"She'll be fine," my father said and I ran away disappearing in the crowd before having to listen to there argument.
The toilets weren't far, just at the top of the amphitheatre and it was also invaded by the crowd. There is not a single time where you will find anywhere female toilets to be empty. I wondered how long it would take any of them to yell in panic if I was to faint right here. Not a very good idea.
I waited anyway. Anything was better than to be with my parents right now, still wondering when I was going to black out. I never thought about recording my black out time but I could still know the time approximatively from my brain scan. I opened my diary to have a look, from the very beginning of this notebook. I couldn't see anything that could make me suspect a pattern. I wondered what my father wanted to say by saying we have at least four hours. It was almost 1.30 and I was still here. I went to pee quickly and gain back my sit, except that I stayed next to my father instead of being in the middle of my parents. The team taking care of the introduction was already at the bottom. My mother throw me the look but I didn't care.
"It took you a long time," she said suspicious.

Wednesday Snippet: Demon World 53

Welcome to Demon World unedited. It seems it's finally time for alliance. But can demons really trust each other?
Yue was the first one to recover. He landed near Kamaril and blocked his fist. The young demon was barely strong enough to stand on his feet but he wasn’t ready to forget to fight for his life yet.
“Let’s get out of here”, Yue said.
“Why would you help me”, Kamaril said looking at him. Yue didn’t have a single scratch, even his clothes were almost unstained and the stained weren’t his own blood. He knew how to fight, maybe that was the only thing he could remember about himself. He was tired, heavily tired but he wouldn’t have let anyone to know.
Kamaril on the other side had bruises and cuts all over his body, his shirt had disappeared and he was trembling with rage and cold.
Yue looked around,
“Because the guys who locked us here are going to come back to finish what they started, they don’t want us awoke, they want us dead”, he said.
“I think you’re right kid”, a voice said on his left. It was a demon, around forty, he was holding his arm above the elbow, and the rest of it was missing. He stood up straighter, fighting against his tiredness.
“Let’s get the hell out of here” he yelled. His voice barely covered Odeon’s but the fights completely stopped. Yue wasn’t sure how but everyone must have had their dose of killing for the day, or for a life time. He wanted to sleep, not even to eat anything and fill his long time empty stomach, he just wanted to go home and sleep, even though he knew that it was impossible now, he had to get out and run for his life. They all seemed to feel the same, the people they had been sharing meal with for the last couple of months were now dead and they had killed them. Demons didn’t feel the guilt of the killing, more the proud of being alive but this time was different, they were more grateful than anything else, not grateful for their new powers, grateful for their lives.
But getting out of here wasn’t going to be that easy. As soon as the fights stopped, they reappeared. First the background guys, disappearing like one in the shadow behind the thrones, then the three of them, wearing new fresh clothes and all of the demons around would have envied from their garments covered in blood and sweat.
Odeon staggered to the front, he was blinded by anger. Yue put a hand on his arm to stop him but Odeon pushed him away. So Yue put his hand on his arm again and burned it, with his divine black fire. The fire wasn’t to be seen, it was propagated inside of Odeon’s arm, cleaning the rage, making his body become numb, it was painful, extremely painful, if he wasn’t calming down soon, if Yue wasn’t releasing his grip soon, he would die.
“We’ll take them down”, Yue muttered soflty in his hear. “We’ll take them all down.”
Odeon looked at him and Yue released his grip. Odeon felt on his knees like emptied from his entire energy. Lonan ran toward him.
“What did you do to Odeon?” he said looking up at Yue angrily. He was ready to fight, Yue knew that.
“It’s alright Lonan, everything is going to be fine now”, Odeon said.

Pullip doll: Dal Hanaayame

En français
Hanaayame is the last doll I got from the doll show 44 and my second in the series with traditional Japanese clothes. I also discovered that there is only a Taeyang in this series, the Taeyang Seiran. Since they are from 2008, there was no Isul yet as Isul started in 2011. Still I think the Isul Okita Souji would go really well with them.
Hanaayame looks like a little princess. She doesn't have as many accessories as Youtsusu, especially for her hair but she has a really nice black and blue wig.
She also has a very nice kimono with four layers of fabric.

WeWriWar 135: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital. The rainbow seller arrived for the delivery.

We start just where we left off last week.

Jason stood back up and carried the case to the bed. Clarissa was still hiding looking at him with only her eyes visible from under the blanket.
“I’ll get doctor Marshall,” Jason said.
“As you want,” the fat man answered with a move of his hand mimicking Jason earlier.
“Don’t go,” Clarissa muttered with a tiny voice catching his hand.
“It will be fine,” Jason said.
He stepped out of the room.
“Just stay here, I’ll be right back,” he added for the fat man.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 49

Have you been bitten yet?
Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advices of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week.

“Is she ready?” he asked.
The women didn’t answer, but they started to rub her more energetically. It seemed to be sufficient as she could hear his steps going away. She listen until she couldn’t hear him anymore and listen a bit more before breathing normally again. She could feel all the muscles in her body tense, she didn’t know if they ever felt different, she had trouble to remember but she knew that when he was around it was getting worse.
She was taken out of the bathtub and dried with perfumed towel. The more time past the more she felt like letting go and relax. The scent of lavender was helping. Viorel’s clothes were also perfumed with lavender. That was reminding her of him and the idea that smell was going to stay a little bit with her was helping her find her inner strength back. They dressed her with a simple white dress.
“It’s a great day for you”, one of them said. For a second she thought that they were going to release her but that seemed really improbable. She thought about seeing the sun again. In every room where she had been there was no window, only coldness and darkness. She wanted to feel the light warmth of the sun on her skin, the green trees outside and the flowers. She didn’t like the night. It was too dark, too grey, and too empty.
“But don’t think you will ever be one of us, you will forever remain worthless blood”, the other one said.
Sorina was stroked with horror. They couldn’t, even if they wanted she wouldn’t let them, she wouldn’t drink. Her life was something else. She was his ray of sunshine how could she be his sunshine if she became like them, as cold as ice. She feared that her heart would be frozen and her memory gone with her blood. People didn’t have much blood, once it was gone, it was forever. She started to walk back away from the women who were trying to comb her hair but she couldn’t fight back, she was too weak and they would have been stronger than her anyway. She only had few chunk of bread to eat a day. They were furtively thrown through the hole in the door during day time. She had called her benefactor a lot but he never answered. They pulled on her hair laughing and she crawled in pain taking her usual protective position. They finished their job and the old servant came to take her back. He was a human, one of the one who had disappeared in the castle long before she was born and stories about his fate had been told to make sure that the children wouldn’t go play near the castle. Once she had tried to gain him to her cause, to have him released her as he had the heavy keys of all doors hanging at his belt. But that only resulted on him beating her harder. His mind had been lost long ago in the darkness of the castle. But once again she tried. She had nothing to lose anymore. Her body was painful at each step. She pleaded, she talk to him about the sun about the grass about the flowers and the butterflies about the animals in the forest and the light shimmering in the river. She tried to reach the feelings buried inside his heart but it was as dry as the heart of his master. He dragged her in a room enlightened by candles and made her sit in the middle. The vampires were sitting around the room in a half circle. Only the men, the women had been kept out of the ceremony.

Thursday Taster 75: Parallel Slip

Hello and welcome to a new Thursday Taster, the day when awesome writers all over the blogosphere come together to give you tasty bits of their last fiction. You can find the list here.
I took my notebook and wrote everything I could about the last travel, about the girls being poisoned, about what they had told me about my father, and also, for some reason my father behavior. I wasn't sure if he could travel too or if Michelle's father had been the one visiting me from here but if he knew something and if I could talk to him he might explain me what Alpha was and what about the four hours I needed to use to make sure that my mother wouldn't see me black out again. It was twelve thirty, if I was to black out in half an hour as what he had told me seemed to mean I had to make sure I could eclipse myself to the toilet at that time, then just hope that the black out wouldn't last too long. I couldn't stop thinking about the time. I wished Jonas had come with us at least he would have been talking to me and would probably have changed the entire atmosphere.
"We need to go back," I said. "It's 12.45 and I don't know where is the main lecture hall."
If my father had been in the same state he was in the car he would have gotten a int that this was the limit of the four hours. But he didn't. My mother was the first to stand, probably more than happy to escape the situation.
"You're right, let's get it over with this non-sense so that we can all go home," she said.
I didn't answer. I wanted to be left alone to think and I needed to do something not to black out.
We were back in the car five minutes later, we could have walked all the way from the accommodation to the supermarket and back but neither of my parents liked to walk.

The main building was in the center of the campus. It was the youngest looking building as it had been restored not to long ago. It had four roads going away from it and the cars had to turn around it to get from one side of the campus to the other. I couldn't get out of the car fast enough. I wanted to go to the toilet, not really for what you might thing but more because it was almost 1pm and at almost 1pm I was supposed to black out if my father had been right in the car or if that's what he actually meant. The building was filled up with kids my age, mostly alone, I was the only one with two parents around her as if I needed bodyguards. That was embarrassing. We entered through the front door which leaded directly to stairs. My mother frowned, she had never trusted me with stairs.

Wednesday Snippet: Demon World 52

Welcome to Demon World unedited. It doesn't seem like a good idea to have little Lonan in the fight but apparently, he can hold his ground too.
Lonan was sitting behind him, in a pool of blood, he was singing happily, one huge bone in each hands, it could have been femur for all Yue knew. He was looking insane, splashing the already coagulating surface of the blood with the bones. He had blood leaking from his lips as if he had been devouring the flesh of the demon to whom the bones had belonged. It was a disgusting spectacle. Yue had thought that Lonan was just a normal kid, happy to see magic tricks, who would love to eat ice cream in summer and to make sand castle on the beach but now he realized something disturbing. Despite his young body and mind, there was something inside of his that was terrible old and dangerous. Something that he had already felt in a different way inside of him, something he had fought with at time but Lonan, just like Torsti was letting himself been controlled by the god-like power inside of him.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have redecorate that much”, he finally said getting up.
“Why? Don’t you like the new aspect.” Torsti said.
“It’s not so bad but it was too easy and now I’m bored and tired. I should have kept some for later”, Lonan answered.
Blood was leaking from his clothes taint in red. He was still playing with the bones, making shapes in the pool of blood which was almost reaching his ankles.
“Can we go home now? I don’t like it much here anyway, it’s kind of cold and I want to see the sky and fly”, he continued.
“We’ll go very soon”, Odeon answered putting his hand on his shoulder. He had the feeling that he shouldn’t have come here in the first place. The hunters had been looking for him and his brothers all along, his parents had died protecting them from the hunters and now that they had became god and that the powers had awoken in the three of them, he had thought that the best thing to do was to stop hiding and to fight back. He wanted them dead, all of them with their upside down Christian cross bleeding on their dark black robes. He wanted to make sure that there would be no more useless death around him, like his parents had suffered but now he could see the result. Most of the demons who had come to them were dead, the hunter had won, those demons and him were alike, they had come for their own purpose, for power, for revenge and now they were dead and he and his brothers were responsible for that, for letting the hunter win, for letting their long time enemy get the upper hand again. He looked for Davon, wanting an explanation of what was going on but Kael and Davon were both dead. They must have fought each other until their last breath. It was expected to be easy for Kael to kill Davon, after all, he was supposed to awake while Davon was only here to look for the potential gods and bring them to the hunters. His chance to understand what had just happened had died with Davon. Once in the battle, he had only thought about himself and his brothers of their own survival, now that he could see the big picture more clearly he was in rage. He walked to the hand of the room, near the door, avoiding the fight still ongoing in some part of the cave and stopped near Davon. He was dead and cold already. It seemed that he had been struggling all along to take Kael in death with him. His hands were still clenched around the other demons broken neck. Odeon would never had imagine that Davon might have so much strength. His side had been pierced by a large piece of stone sharp like a blade. It was Kael’s god power, the power of transformation of the rocks, he would have been an invaluable ally in this cave against the hunters but now it was too late, he was dead. Odeon was angry as he had never been since the death of his parents. At that time, he had just taken his younger brother away. Lonan was only four years old and he was crying like a baby, unable to control himself, unable to protect himself. He was clinching at their mum and liking the blood on her cheek. That was the day he had started to love the taste of blood. It had been hard for Odeon to take him away from her, he was kicking and biting and punching him all he could with his little fists. It was the night he had sworn to bring the hunters to their downfall. He stood up feeling the rage run in his veins as if he had became anger itself he looked at the ceiling and yelled like a lion in pain still ready to go to war. The fighter around him stopped to look at him, his voice was filling up the room.

Pullip doll: Youtsuzu

Seriously Youtsuzu is so very pretty that I would probably still be taking pictures of her if the background didn't start falling off.
She has five layers of kimono in different fabric which I haven't removed to check really because I'm a bit scared of messing it all up. She also has a really special wig which comes in two different pieces and a lot of hair accesories.
I was super lucky to find her at the doll show because she tends to be really expensive and to disappear really quickly from online stores. I also have Hanaayame which I'll show you later and I'm just waiting a bit to get the boys.
